Sclerotherapy

Veinware Treatment at Johns Creek Dermatology and Family Medicine

Sclerotherapy is an injection of sclerosant solution used to treat abnormal varicose veins and some spider veins. This procedure seals off the vein causing it to stick together and shrink. This will allows the body to naturally redirect the blood flow to healthy veins.

This procedure will include vein mapping which utilizes Doppler ultrasound to give details of abnormal vein activity for a safer more effective treatment. Treatments will be customized to your needs and a combination of Sclerotherapy and Veinwave may be needed for your best result, after a thorough consultation the physician will determine your individual treatment plan. Treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart and you will typically need a series of treatments.
You should avoid aspirin, ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory medications for 48 hours before and after Sclerotherapy. Avoid hot showers, saunas, hot tubs and the direct sun for 48 hours after the treatment.

Compression hosiery which must be worn for to weeks following the procedure
